Background

Our client requires the services of up to two (2) Database Administrators Level 3 on as required basis with extensive experience as an Oracle Database Administrator, to provide Oracle database administration support for the development, quality control (QC), and production environments for project initiatives and for operations. In particular, to upgrade, configure, optimize and support the Oracle infrastructure.

Technical Criteria

Must be holding a current, valid Government of Canada (SECRET) or higher security clearance.

Must have ten (10) years of experience as a Database Administrator using Oracle v10g & above; including installing, configuring, tuning, troubleshooting and upgrading Oracle relational database management systems (RDBMS).

Must have two (2) years of experience as a Database Administrator using Oracle v12c & above; including installing, configuring, tuning, troubleshooting and upgrading Oracle relational database management systems (RDBMS).

Must have two (2) years of experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting Oracle Cloud Control 12c or above.

Must have two (2) years of experience applying performance monitoring / tuning techniques and procedures using Oracle Cloud Control 12c or above.

Must have two (2) years of experience as a Database Administrator using Microsoft SQL Server; including installing, configuring, tuning, troubleshooting and upgrading MS relational database management systems (RDBMS).

Must provide at least two (2) recent references (within the past five (5) years) and related projects that can validate the knowledge and experience of the proposed resource. Information must include Organization, contact name, contact telephone number, e-mail address, a description of the projects and the date and duration of the contract.

Should have experience as a database administrator using Oracle v10g or above; including the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, version upgrades, developing and implementing backup and recovery strategies on Oracle RDBMS.

Should have experience as a database administrator using Oracle v12c or above; including the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, version upgrades, developing and implementing backup and recovery strategies on Oracle RDBMS.

Should have experience in applying performance monitoring / tuning techniques and procedures in an Oracle RDBMS environment using Oracle Grid/Cloud Control v12c or above.

Should have experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting Oracle Cloud Control 12c or above.

Should have experience writing and tuning SQL and PL/SQL (triggers, stored procedures, packages, views) in an Oracle v10g or higher environment.

Should have experience with the design, installation and configuration of Oracle v10g or above in an enterprise environment consisting of a minimum of 20 databases and a minimum of 5 servers for the Federal Government or Provincial Government or Municipal Government.

Should have experience developing backup and recovery strategies, implementing and performing backup and recovery as required in an Oracle RDBMS environment using RMAN.

Should have experience supporting Oracle production databases in an organization with more than 1000 employees within the past ten years.

Should have experience as a Database Administrator using Microsoft SQL Server; including the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, version upgrades, developing and implementing backup and recovery strategies on Microsoft SQL Server RDBMS.

Should have experience migrating RDBMS databases from an Oracle database server to a Microsoft SQL Server database.

Tasks Required

• Provide database support and database administration tasks on projects and operations, 
• Configure and optimize the Oracle 12c infrastructure,
• Perform necessary optimizations to the database environment, investigate and resolve database performance problems,
• Provide support to service providers and developers on projects and operations, 
• Perform database security administration and support,
• Administer databases and database servers in multiple environments,
• Establish and document database processes and procedures that are approved,
• Design, implement, and configure backup and recovery strategies for all environments,
• Monitor Oracle licensing requirements with the support agreement,
• Liaise with Shared Service Canada regarding the server environments and various Requests for Change (RFCs),
• Provide guidance, advice and recommendations on any database related initiatives to services providers, Provide recommendations to the Technical Authority and Senior Management on way forward for GAC applications using Oracle databases, 
• Provide status updates to the Technical Authority,
• Analyze the possibilities of upgrading to a more recent version of Oracle (i.e. Oracle 19c), Potentially upgrade to a more recent version of Oracle, Knowledge transfer to existing staff.

Technical Environment

• The environment will include but may not be limited to:
• Microsoft Windows Servers 2012 and 2016,
• Oracle 12c/19c on Windows,
• Oracle Enterprise Cloud Control v12c,
• Microsoft SQL Server, Windows 10,
• MS Office Suite 2016.
