Background
An Intermediate SQL Support Specialist will apply their expertise in the field of relational databases along with their knowledge regarding sustaining legacy systems. The division will rely on the Programmer to provide efficient methods of sustaining and enhancing existing Legacy information system solutions. These activities include porting and cleaning Legacy system data, Legacy information system betterment development, and providing support in multiple environments for the continuity and improvement of business practices within the organization.
Technical Criteria
Must hold a post-secondary degree or diploma in an engineering, technology, or software domain.
Must have sixty (60) months demonstrated experience within the last one hundred and twenty (120) months of bid closing as a software developer.
Must have sixty (60) months demonstrated experience within the last one hundred and twenty (120) months of bid closing developing in Structured Query Language (SQL).
Must have a valid Government of Canada Secret Clearance.
Should have thirty-six (36) months demonstrated experience within the last one hundred and twenty (120) months in the extraction, transformational and load (ETL) of data between different Relational Databases.
Should have twenty-four (24) months demonstrated experience within the last one hundred and twenty (120) months developing in Oracle Database.
Should have twenty-four (24) months within the last one hundred and twenty (120) months of demonstrated experience developing in one or more of the following seven (7) languages:
- HTML
- .NET
- Java
- JavaScript
- Python
- CSS
- PHP
Should have twenty-four (24) months demonstrated experience within the last one hundred and twenty (120) months working with technical data on complex DND systems/equipment used for in-service support programs involving at least one of the following:
- Royal Canadian Air Force aircraft
- Radar and Communications Systems
- Royal Canadian Navy ships
Tasks to be performed:
- Provide technical subject matter expertise related to the development and sustainment of applications that embody SQL databases and their associated procedures;
- Develop, implement, and/or, support Legacy software applications;
- Proactively collaborate with team members, to understand problems and brainstorm solutions for legacy information systems;
- Develop and maintain the repository of documentation that describes all legacy information systems configurations;
- Document all code to the standard of software development best practices;
- Develop and maintain user guides and instructional aides for legacy information systems applications;
- Perform unit testing, regression testing and support user acceptance testing;
- Write, modify, improve and maintain code associated with legacy information systems:
- Databases
- user interfaces
