Background

A senior Applications/Software Architect will be responsible for maintaining and supporting the Open Science and Data Platform (OSDP) and related technologies including reviewing and/or creating solutions analysis, design and architecture documentation and diagrams in alignment with IT strategy and the business objectives. The Architect is also responsible for the creation and / or revision of application, technical and physical architecture documentation and diagrams as well as proof of concept development of key features and functionality using cloud-based technologies.

Technical Criteria

Must have successfully completed one of: 

Must have a minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated experience working as an Application / Software Architect for a Government of Canada (GoC) department / agency / crown corporation or provincial / municipal government.

Must have a minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated experience developing solutions on either AWS or Azure cloud platforms.

Must have a minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated experience following an Agile methodology for the development of web-based applications.

Must have a minimum of two (2) years experience architecting and developing Open Data or Open Science based platforms for the Government of Canada.

Must have experience (at least one project) architecting and developing systems for a scientific department. Project must be a minimum of two (2) years in duration to qualify.

Must have a valid government of Canada Reliability Clearance.

Should have experience developing .NET applications on AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms.

Should have experience working on projects (of at least six (6) months in duration) for scientific departments or with direct interaction with scientists.

Should have experience with AngularJS and / or Angular within the last eight (8) years.

Should experience developing web applications in projects that use ALL of the following technologies / languages:

Should have experience developing GIS applications using ArcGIS Server and ArcSDE.

Should have project (if at least of six (6) months in duration) experience building Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines with Azure DevOps that allows for rapid delivery of solutions to AWS.
